It’s that time of the year when you should definitely start thinking about planning your schoolies trip. For those in Year 12, it marks the end of insane study, stress and exams and a chance to celebrate with friends. While most head for the Gold Coast or Byron, not everyone is looking for a party week by the beach. Got a bit more cash saved? Try one of these unique destinations!

New Zealand

New Zealand is just a short flight away and packs more adventure into one country than you could ever possibly want. Think bungee jumping, white water rafting and paragliding…plus incredible scenery! It’s the perfect destination for a short or long break. With so much to do, you’ll never get bored. There are also guided schoolies trips for those that don’t know where to start or want to meet new people. Check them out!

It’s one of the most beautiful countries in the world so it’s no surprise that Vietnam makes the cut as an ideal schoolies destination. There are programs available for those wanting a schoolies trip with a difference, working in villages as part of a team to improve facilities for local communities. The Antipodeans Schoolies Unearthed expedition to Vietnam looks incredible and is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity.

If we had to choose just one unique schoolies destination, this would 100% be it. Those visiting Nepal will get to trek through the Himalayas, get first-hand experience of the Nepalese culture and lifestyle, and meet other like-minded schoolies who love travel and adventure. World Youth Adventures runs an Alternative Schoolies + Community Project program which has an amazing itinerary that is worth checking out!

Whatever you decide to do for schoolies, it is a unique opportunity to celebrate the end of school and explore your newfound freedom. No matter where you choose to go, live in the moment and enjoy it. You’ll be making some of the best memories of your life.
