TASTEFive Foods To Make Your Skin Glow This Winter

katem

With the weather getting colder by the day, your skin can start to lose some of its glow. While moisturisers, masks and facial mists can help mask the dullness, it’s what you put into your body that counts. Are you’re looking to put some radiance back into your skin, and feel great at the same time? These are our top picks of skin-saving foods you should definitely try!

Avocado

Who doesn’t love avocado? Smashed on toast, added to salads or even hidden in your favourite smoothie, it’s an absolute must for good skin. Avocado is full of fatty acids and antioxidants that put moisture back into your skin which can be seriously lacking in winter. If you just can’t stomach it, avocado can also be added to a homemade face mask for a glow boost.

Oily Fish

Salmon is our fave when it comes to including oily fish in our diet. Tuna is also a great option for adding to lunches or dinners for some extra skin benefits. The Omega-3 fatty acids in oily fish help keep skin supple and moisturised. They can also reduce the inflammation that causes the redness of acne and rosacea! If oily fish just isn’t your thing, try adding it to your favourite pasta or give smoked salmon a go.

Green Tea

While it’s not strictly a food, green tea is the perfect winter drink and your skin will love it! Green tea contains catechins which improve skin texture. It also hydrates from within and is a great way to get in your two litres a day if you’re sick of plain water. This is definitely an acquired taste, so a small teaspoon of honey can make all the difference.

Capsicum

Go for the red and yellow kind if you can get them! Capsicums are full of Vitamin C which creates collagen, keeping your skin firm and strong. They are also so easy to include in your diet! Add them to a salad, serve them with dip or stuff them with your favourite filling and bake them for a super delicious dinner.

Dark Chocolate

You might be surprised that dark chocolate makes the list! Cocoa is super high in antioxidants and dark chocolate has loads of it. You’ll need to choose a brand that is at least 70% cocoa and remember that you only need a small amount to make a difference. Prepare for improved texture, more hydration and better blood flow!
