Who doesn’t love going to markets on the weekend?

With great food, awesome live music and sustainable fashion all in one place, there’s something for everyone.  If you’re planning out your next weekend of eating and thrifting, look no further. Here are our our picks for the top five markets in Sydney.

Marrickville Organic Markets

Marrickville Organic Markets are held every Sunday 9am-3pm. Even though they go all day, we recommend getting in early! Top of our list are the incredible acai bowls and corn fritter plates if you’re looking for a delicious, healthy breakfast. If you’re wanting sustainable fashion, the markets have dozens of stalls selling preloved items, along with a couple of stalls by ethical fashion labels. The coffee is also seriously good here – no matter which stall you choose (and there are many!) you really can’t go wrong. The hipster vibe and community feel will have you coming back week after week.

Bondi Markets

Bondi Beach Public School is transformed each Sunday into a super cool market that you won’t want to miss. Boutique swimwear labels, local artists and handmade jewellery brands are just some of the stalls you’ll find here, so it ain’t cheap, but there are a few hidden gems. Our top picks include the florist (cheap and amazing) and the handmade candle stall (also amazing, great for presents). If foodie markets are more your scene, Bondi also has a Saturday farmers market that’s well worth a visit, especially on a hot summer morning. Plus you can head down for a swim no matter what time of the day you visit.

Kirribilli Markets

Just underneath the Harbour Bridge, every fourth Saturday of the month, Kirribilli Markets are Sydney’s oldest and most popular. And for good reason. The second hand clothing stalls are some of the best – if you can’t find something, you just aren’t trying hard enough. Plus there’s an incredible selection of food to choose from including rice paper rolls, bliss bowls, paella, gnocchi and BBQ boxes. We especially love that all unsold second hand clothing is donated to the Smith Family, so nothing goes to waste! All round, this market is one of our faves.

Glebe Markets

Glebe Markets – potentially the most instagrammed market in Sydney. It’s a fashionista’s paradise, with second hand clothing stalls featuring designer pieces for a fraction of the price. Open 10am-4pm every Saturday, the markets are recycling heaven, with not only fashion, but books and music stalls too. Not to mention the endless gourmet food options. If you’ve got a pile of second hand clothing you want to sell, then this is the place to do it. One-off stalls are available, so grab your friends, split the cost, and see what you can pass on to a new home!

Paddington Markets

Rounding out the list are Paddington Markets, a celebrity hot spot and market-goers dream. The best part is they’re just minutes from the city and beach! Pop on down every Saturday between 10am-4pm, rain or shine. With many of the stalls and products exclusive to these markets, it’s definitely worth checking out. Lots of designers got their big break here, so you’ll never know what you’ll find. There’s an international food court, live music and 150 stalls to keep you busy all day.  Parking is an issue here though, so definitely a public transport or Uber situation!
