Who doesn’t love a good movie? You may be surprised to learn that many of them are not as original as you might think! For many films, a book is where it all began. So many new movies are about to hit the screen this year, but you definitely need to be familiar with the original story to enjoy them. Here are our top picks of books about to become blockbusters!

Little Women

It’s set to be brought to life on the big screen later this year, but Little Women is a literary classic. Written by Louisa May Alcott it tells the story of four sisters growing up during the Civil War. Harry Potter star Emma Watson has been given a starring role as the eldest sister Meg so it’s guaranteed to be a hit! If you love Jane Austen, it’s definitely worth a read.

All The Bright Places

This is one of the most popular young adult books. It tells the story of two teenagers, an ex-cheerleader and a social outcast, growing up in Indiana. Elle Fanning and Justice Smith are taking on the starring roles, and Netflix is overseeing the adaptation, so it could be available for streaming sooner than you think! If you loved the Fault in Our Stars, this is the film for you!

Artemis Fowl

If you love fantasy, then the Artemis Fowl movie due for release in 2020 should be top of your list. The film will be based on the eight-book series by Eoin Colfer which follows the criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl II. The movie has been in the works for almost three years so we can’t wait to see the books brought to life. If you loved Harry Potter, give this series a go.

We can’t wait to check out these adaptations, but it’s always good to remember that the story started with a book. There’s really nothing better than reading the original and seeing it in your own imagination before watching someone else’s version.
